Shelf 02 — About

Where the method came from

A small practice built out of years spent doing this work ourselves.

An archive room with organised shelving

Norvelis began as a set of notes we kept for ourselves — habits that made research hold together across long, difficult inquiries. Over time, colleagues started asking to sit in, and it became clear the notes were worth teaching properly.

We work only with what is already published, filed, or otherwise lawfully available: reports, studies, prior coverage, official records. The discipline is in how carefully you read and record that material, not in finding shortcuts around it.

Every session is built around your own subject. We would rather spend an hour on your actual questions than an afternoon on a hypothetical case study.

What guides the work

01 /

Lawful by design

Every method taught stays within what is legally and openly available. We are direct when a question falls outside that.

02 /

Read, don't inherit

A source's own framing is a starting point, not a conclusion. We teach how to check what a document actually supports.

03 /

Keep the record

Good research is only useful if you can find it again. We teach recording habits that outlast the excitement of a new lead.
